At Londonderry Port and Harbour Commissioners we conduct our affairs
in an open and transparent manner; our annual accounts are available to
the public (see How We Work – Economic and
Financial) and attendance at our Annual General Meeting is open to all
members of the public. In addition, we have an open door policy when dealing
with public concerns. Click

The port is closely involved in many aspects of the community both locally
in the Derry area and in the wider Lough Foyle region. Our involvement
spans a range of activities and support as follows:
Local Businesses
We work closely with the NI
Business in the Community (BIC) organisation to provide support such
as mentoring services to local enterprises.
Marine and Maritime
The port sponsors events on the river Foyle such as the Celtic Maritime
Festival and the Foyle Regatta, as well as the annual Port Cup sailing
race; We also provide expertise, technical and on the water support to
community activities, such as, assisting the Moville Community College
sailing courses through the supply of rescue vessels; we provide funding
to local sailing organisations for e.g. essential repairs and equipment.
Environment
The port has established a wildlife and conservation area in conjunction
with the local primary school within the port land. Work is also ongoing
with the RSPB to provide protection for the birds inhabiting the Foyle
while at the same time allowing the port to continue its operations.
Special projects
We provide funding to cash-starved community initiatives such as the Strathfoyle
Youth Development Project, and Culmore Junior Soccer.
